The Story behind Rise Up Again
Share
Where to begin?!
5 years ago, I gave birth to my daughter, Sage and what was supposed to be the best day of our lives soon turned horrific. 14 days thereafter, I was having odd thoughts ( not normal of my own), bizarre reality, and felt high anxiety, to name a few. I was soon after diagnosed with Postpartum Psychosis. To shed a light on this only .01% of this population of moms ever go through this. I fought for my brain, my life and truly fought for each minute. While in intensive therapy with my brand new baby I was able to get the help needed and soon after recovered with the help of my support system, and professionals around me. And mostly by the grace of God. Since then, I have relapsed three separate times. All of which, have their own story. All of which, each separate time was a never-ending battle that taxed me to my breaking point mentally, physically and spiritually. And again, each time God restored.
This is where Rise Up Again was born. While fighting my battles through mental health God brought this calling on me to help those who are fighting like me every single day and may feel like they don't have a voice. So my mission here is to help others find their voice, start discussing and having a conversation around it. To END the stigma. To embrace all of your God given gifts and abilities despite your "diagnosis."
You will see apparel that meant and means a lot to me while struggling through my journey and I hope it strikes a cord with you. That you can find your voice through it all and KNOW that you are never alone in this.
Along with apparel, dance has been and is a therapy for me. While dancing competitively in High School through college choreographing pieces and on the Dance Team. I have educated High School students for over 10 years and my love for it is never-ending. I currently offer dance therapy to those who are on this intense journey through mental health. Movement and dance is shown to increase neuroplasticity, brain functionality, boosts memory and increases serotonin ( feel good hormones ) in your brain. I offer separate sessions and workshops. All of which, to help you heal , find community and bring you through this journey.
You are seen. You are loved.
With love and healing,
Aubrey
