Dance Healing, Movement and Expression

Dance has always been a big part of my life. I started when I was in 6th grade, danced competitively through a studio and soon after in High School on the dance team traveling over the US. When in college I was on the dance team and minored in dance education. Thereafter, dance was just simply put...in my blood. I taught for over 15 years for high school students and shared the love I had for movement and how healing it can be.

During the last 5 years (since I had my daughter) I was introduced to dance as a way of healing trauma, depression, anxiety and daily stressors of life. I personally have used dance, movement and breathing; and it has been an integral practice in my healing journey these past 5 years.

That is where Rise Up Again was born. I wanted to provide a space where other individuals could use this in their daily life when fighting mental health issues, trauma, and stressful days. Dance healing has a way to neurologically heal. This is done by how your body moves and in tangent interacts with your specific thoughts and feelings. It provides a "safe space" to emotionally process, releases any stress/tension and can help in developing healthy coping mechanisms in "high stress" times. This , along with somatic breathing exercises , can help a person lessen their triggers, de-stress and regulate the nervous system.

Anyone of any ability can take part ( and should) in dance healing practices. I hope you find it as healing as I have and can pass any of these daily practices to your kiddos. This is one of many tools that help aide in improving your overall well being and help in navigating all life hands to you.

With Love and Healing,
